Pimp my style: Pimping TheMessenger's gfx

Edit: THIS IS NOT EPISODE 1 OF THE PIMP MY STYLE TUTORIALS! I'm currently working on part 1 ... so please be patient and wait :)

A new era begins,

This is the first post of a new series, which is dedicated to *you*. I randomly take a community picture and make it more teeish. I got inspired by my last blog entry and Marik's comment, who asked my to make a "how to become more teeish"-tutorial . The easiest way to show you what you are doing wrong is to show you examples. The first graphic I picked is from TheMessenger as he and Snazzy are working on the swamp doodads.

1. The best thing to start with when you draw something teeish is sth. clear. Use shapes that are symmetrical.
2. Here I cut the shape right in the middle and mirrored the right part.
3. I made it slightly (!) asymmetrical to make it look much more natural.
4. I added a basic shadow.
5. The trunk of the tree was redrawn of TheMessenger's tree (and his one is based on the original teeworlds style, so no need to change sth. here)
6. Basic coloring added, based on TheMessenger's version. I repeated the same steps from above for the second treetop.
7. Here I redrew the shadows of the trunk. Normally you can use black and an alpha channel of 60 (which means ~22% opacity)
8. The shadowing of the treetop needed some rework, as I was not satisfied with it. Now it looks much more realistic. Addiontally I drew a detailed shadow at the trunk. This one lets it look more wild.
9. Further details added to make it more harmonious.
10. At this step I roundened the treetops slightly. Tee-style is not that angled that we can keep them. At last I recolored the trunk as I did not like the gray.

TheMessenger, you can call yourself officially pimped now !
